Ease of Doing Business is a major pillar of Make in India initiative of Government of India (GoI). Make in India initiative is to promote and encourage manufacturing industries in the country with the aim of creating large scale employment and increase the share of manufacturing sector in the country's GDP - Gross Domestic Product.

World bank introduced the Doing of Business report in 2002, most countries have extensively used its assessment parameters to upgrade and reform regulatory bottlenecks which in turn have lead to an improvement in Investment Climate. The report has become an Independent, nonpartisan guiding bench mark for emerging markets to attract investments and spurr economic growth. It is used by strategic investors, consultants, Governments and Private sector as a reference outline to evaluate one state against the other in making major investment decisions.

In this direction Government of India (GoI), has taken many initiatives in creating infrastructure, easing regulatory bottlenecks, curbing red tapism prevailing in the system for speedier decision making to name a few. We feel The Ease of Doing Business is a continuous process.

In the ranking of the World Bank, regarding Ease of Doing Business, India was ranked 142 amongst 189 countries in 2015. Now it has improved to 130 in the year 2016.
